Tapestry Live book

Posted by Warner Onstine on April 27, 2005

Well, some of you already know that I’ve been working on getting a new book contract and this is it! I just signed with SourceBeat publishing to do a Tapestry book for them.

This book will hopefully not be too far behind a 4.0 (was 3.1) release and will walk through the building of an entire application. The application will be significantly different from my tutorials I have been writing.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of those who have gone through my tutorials and gave me the impetus to contact SourceBeat with this book idea. If they hadn’t done as well I don’t think I would have pushed it. I also want to apologize as this means I won’t be finishing these tutorials anytime soon (conflicts with the contract I signed), I had hoped
to get them finished before this came about but life intervened (I hate it when it does that). But there are plenty of other tutorials available now that hopefully will fill this void.

To find out more about the book you can visit the Web-site – http://www.sourcebeat.com:80/TitleAction.do?id=12. For up-
to-date information on the book you can visit the blog – http://www.jroller.com/page/WarnerOnstine/.

Investigating Laszlo

Posted by Warner Onstine on April 27, 2005

Flex no longer intrigues me after I heard the pricetag per dual-processor (their lowest license) at $12K a pop.

Update 1/5/05 – I am starting to develop one of my apps using LPS, and also assisting them with their Maven build. I’ll try and keep this blog updated more regularly (one of my New Years’ resolutions). Also I will be moving some of my tutorial blog entries and corporate entries over to Sandcast once I have the blog setup over there (waiting on new server to be finished, soon…soon).

Trails v .5 released

Posted by Warner Onstine on April 27, 2005

Also, I decided that having a tutorial and some new features justified doing a new release, which I‘m labeling 0.5.

Next I will probably focus on how to do method invocations or searching. Haven‘t decided which, feel free to leave me a comment if you have an opinion

Chris Nelson has also added some new documentation – a new Tutorial, in addition to the Quickstart.

You can download version .5 at the java.net site as well as the examples (highly valuable), here. Enjoy!
